Flipping the Script: The Definitive Arc Raiders Showstopper Rocketeer Guide t

In the brutal PvE encounters of Arc Raiders, few mid-tier mechanical threats induce panic quite like the Rocketeer. Cruising high above locations like the Dam Battlegrounds or the Spaceport Launch Towers, this aerial ARC asset punishes stationary players with devastating, tracking missile volleys. However, seasoned raiders have long leaned on an incredibly high-reward counter-mechanic: grounded immobilization via the Showstopper stun grenade.
When executed correctly, a tactical combination involving a well-placed Showstopper can turn this floating powerhouse into a defenseless heap of scrap metal. But doing so requires strict precision, an understanding of hidden hitboxes, and the right supplementary gear.
The Anatomy of the Interaction: Forcing the Crash
The Showstopper is an invaluable piece of tactical utility, boasting a 6-meter blast radius and a massive 7-second stun duration against ARC machinery. Despite its generous area of effect, simply chucking a Showstopper at a Rocketeer’s face or main chassis is a recipe for a quick trip back to the respawn screen. The ARC’s forward armor often triggers an early, ineffective auto-detonation, leaving its weapons fully operational.
To successfully force a Rocketeer to crash to the dirt, players must target its primary weak points: the rear engines and thrusters.
  • The "Flip" Vortex: Slipping behind the hovering machine or throwing from an elevated position (such as the rooftops in Buried City) allows you to aim directly at the rear middle section of its engines. Detonating a Showstopper here creates a mid-air shock vortex that completely disrupts its propulsion system.
  • Grounding vs. Flipping: Depending on the angle of impact and the current altitude of the ARC, a successful stun will either cause it to plummet flat or flip completely upside down onto the terrain. When flipped, it exposes its secondary weak point—the red glowing core underneath its belly—which is normally hidden during its standard reload cycles.

The Deadline Combo and Math-Based Combat
Once the Rocketeer hits the ground, it enters a highly vulnerable state, but players only have a tight 7-second window before the stun wears off. The current high-tier meta leverages this exact window using the "Deadline Combo."
[Showstopper Stun (7s Window)] ➔ [Deploy Deadline Mine (6s Fuse)] ➔ [Massive 1,000 Damage Burst]

Immediately after the ARC crashes, a raider rushes the downed machine to plant a Deadline Mine directly onto its body. The Deadline Mine is an epic quick-use explosive that operates on a precise 6-second timer. Because the Showstopper locks the Rocketeer in place for 7 seconds, the mine’s 6-second fuse will detonate exactly 1 second before the machine can recover and take flight.
The numbers behind this strategy showcase its sheer efficiency:
  • Deadline Mine Damage: 1,000 explosive damage within a 10-meter radius.
  • Health Pool Impact: A standard Rocketeer's health pool is heavily armored, but a single 1,000-damage burst combined with the initial fall damage is often enough to instantly strip its engine armor.
  • The Cleanup: This leaves the ARC with minimal HP, allowing a squad to easily finish it off with just 2 or 3 heavy ammo shots from an Anvil Splitter rifle.

Armor Gates and Common Consistency Pitfalls
While the combo sounds seamless on paper, raiders frequently run into consistency issues due to the Rocketeer's armor scaling. The ARC's thrusters are heavily guarded by breakable plating. If you try to execute the Showstopper trick while its armor is completely intact, a single grenade might only register as a partial stagger rather than a full grounding.
In intense firefights, teams must adapt. One player should use heavy ballistic weapons to crack the outer engine plating first, or the squad must chain up to 2 Showstoppers back-to-back to guarantee the crash. Furthermore, remember that the Showstopper halts the Rocketeer's movement, but it doesn't always disable its weapons instantly. If the machine has already initiated its tracking missile barrage before the grenade detonates, the rockets will still fire mid-plummet, meaning you must maintain hard cover until the final impact.
Resource Management: From Farming to Crafting Alternates
Chasing these sky-high targets isn't just for survival; it's a core loop for progression. Scrap-hunting squads actively look for Rocketeer patrols because they are the exclusive source for high-tier components needed in end-game progression. When you successfully dismantle one, looting its wreckage gives you a chance to secure rare blueprints and specialized upgrade parts.

For players who haven't unlocked or purchased the Showstopper blueprint from Shani or Apollo yet, managing your inventory with alternative loadouts is crucial. The Hornet Driver can be used as a budget alternative to achieve a similar shock duration. On the other hand, if your squad prefers raw power over crowd control, a Wolfpack Grenade completely bypasses the need for precision throwing. The Wolfpack splits into 10 to 12 auto-targeting homing missiles upon release, almost entirely one-shotting a Rocketeer in a single use.
When optimization is key, players looking to stock up on resources often monitor specialized trading platforms like U4N to keep their bunkers supplied with essential weapon parts, making it easier to consistently craft and deploy rare arc raiders items for high-tier runs. Whether you choose the precision of a stun-and-mine combo or the brute force of tracking explosives, understanding the mechanical thresholds of the Rocketeer ensures your squad remains the apex predators of the wasteland.
